As the old saying goes, ‘You can’t pour from an empty vessel.’
Having that ‘me’ time to care for and nurture yourself is so important, not just for you, but also for all the other people in your life. A stronger and healthier you is more able to help and care for others.
Also, the more you take care of yourself, the happier and more content you will become. You will become a kinder and more loving person, as a result. And you will begin to see your life and other people in a different light. You’ll learn to be more patient and sympathetic towards others, and better able to understand that they are hurting inside and therefore projecting that hurt out into the world.
As you tend to yourself more, you will see nothing but a positive shift in your character and your life experience.
Here are just a few tips to help you on your journey of taking better care of yourself:
- Take time out for ‘quiet time’. Depending on your schedule it can be for as short as five minutes. Sit down in silence or listen to a soft or uplifting piece of music. Ensure that this time is just for you.
- Exercise regularly – once a day would be ideal and any form of exercise will do. It can be for as long (or as short) as you like.
- Read or watch anything that will uplift you and bring a smile to your face.
- Spend time in nature
- Follow a morning routine (see my tips in my next post)
- Chat to a friend or family member who brings you joy and loves you for who you are.
As you focus more on yourself and your wellbeing, your life will change. It will become happier and more enjoyable.
